AEDs
Each
year, more than 950,000 adult Americans die from cardiovascular disease,
making it the number one cause of death in the United States. Nearly
450,000 Americans die of sudden cardiac arrest before they even reach
a hospital, with 7000 of those being children under the age of 8.
That's over 1000 people every day.
Sudden
cardiac arrest strikes people of all ages, and all degrees of fitness,
and usually without warning. Many of these live can be saved if bystanders
quickly phone 911, begin early CPR, and provide defibrillation within
minutes.
We
strongly encourage businesses and facilities to establish AED programs
to increase the chances of survival for people with heart related
emergencies. Unfortunately, quick EMS system response is not always
possible. Even the best EMS systems experience delays from heavy traffic,
secured buildings, high rises, gated communities, railroad crossings,
and draw bridges. With the national average response time being 10
to 12 minutes, it's often difficult to arrive in the first 3 to 5
minutes when the chance of successful defibrillation is the greatest.
We
are a proud distributor for Welch Allyn AEDs. Welch Allyn is a family
owned business since 1915, and has over 30 years in the defibrillation
business. These devices only require the user to turn the unit on,
attach pads to the patient's chest, and follow audio instructions.
They do not require the user to make decisions or interpret symptoms.
